Commissions
Yes! I do commissions!
Is there a painting of mine that you’ve fallen in love with, but it’s already been sold? Or, maybe you’d like it in a larger size? Or maybe you have a scene or picture in mind that holds some significance for you?
We should talk!
But first, let me tell you a little bit about my process, sizing, subjects and pricing.
Process
If you’re reading this, you’ve connected with my work in some way and you’re interested in commissioning me to just “do what I do”. This is a great place for beginning our conversation!
I typically do commission work from my own reference materials. I have a significant collection of photography from my travels around Canada and North America (nature, mountains, road trips, northern exploration, woodlands, botanicals, etc.).
I’m also happy to discuss working from your supplied reference photo, but it needs to fit my criteria to be suitable to use as a reference. Not all photos will be suitable to work from and I will be honest with you about that.
A vitally important part of my artistic process is capturing a unique viewpoint, lively colours and playful light. This is the foundation to a great painting.
Sizing and Subject Matter
In order to figure out what works for size and subject matter in the space where you’d like to hang the work, I’m happy to consult with you as part of the commission process. I have some very handy digital tools available to help with visualization and decision-making.
I don’t paint portraits (pet or human). However, this doesn’t mean I don’t love pets and (most) humans!!! ;) I’m a landscape artist and my commission work remains in this genre.
Pricing
Commission work is the same price as any of my other work. In order to book a place in my schedule, a non-refundable retainer will be required. The balance (plus shipping, if required) will be due upon completion.
Shipping
I have clients from coast-to-coast and can ship completed work across Canada and the USA.
